Utilizing Home STD Test

If you belong to the sexually active individuals, you are considered high risk for STDs or sexually transmitted diseases especially when you engage in sexual intercourse with multiple partners. Knowing that this is the
case, it is important that you check your health status and make sure that you don’t have any STD. The only way that you can do this is to perform STD test.

While it is true that you can have this done in the clinic settings, you can also perform at home STD test. Typically, the test is done in hospitals, clinic and health centers where you will be supervised under a qualified medical practitioner or physician. That was then but now you can do this at the very comforts of your own home.

STD home kits are now available in your local pharmacy or online health shops. You can get sterile vaginal swabs and instructions within the package. At home STD tests are more often than not performed by women for preliminary screening of STD diseases such as gonorrhea and Chlamydia.

If you test positive on the test kit that you bought, you are often referred for treatment in health clinics providing STD-related services like evaluation, clinical assessment, risk assessment and other pertinent data needed.

With the test kits, you could also collect urine samples on the given vials so that you can send it off to a laboratory for analysis. Along with this test, you may also be asked to provide genital or rectal swab and blood samples.

Other times, it would be the combination of test samples in order to accurately test for the results. You can collect the samples within the comfort of your home and send it off for analysis. The results of the examination can be obtained within few days online for your viewing. There is no need for you to be physically present in the clinic to get the tests done.

The only problem about home testing is that the efficiency of the kits remains unclear. Some say it has bigger room for errors and wrong analysis especially when you don’t know anything about test sampling or you have trouble following instructions.

Nonetheless, your anonymity and comfort are two things you cannot achieve when you go to STD clinics. There is always room for embarrassment when you visit clinics, which might prevent you for pushing
through the examination.
