Rev. Andre Johnson is the pastor of Gifts of Life Ministries located at 1542 Jackson. He was born and raised in Memphis, Tenn. and is married to Lisa who is a graduate of the University of Memphis and currently works as a paralegal.
Pastor Johnson attended the University of Tennessee at Martin where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Communications. He also graduated from Memphis Theological Seminary where he was awarded the Masters of Divinity degree. He is currently a doctoral candidate in communications at the University of Memphis. His dissertation is entitled, "The Prophetic Oratory of Bishop Henry McNeal Turner".
Pastor Johnson also is a professor of communications and African American studies at the University of Memphis and teaches classes in African American religion and the Black Church as well as a new class entitled, "The Rhetoric of Hip Hop". He is also a professor at Memphis Theological Seminary where he teaches urban and hip hop theology and serves as the Director of the Masters of Arts and Religion (MAR) Lay Track.
Pastor Johnson is the director of G'Life Outreach, the outreach arm of Gifts of Life Ministries. He has won several awards including the Vanderhaar Peace and Social Justice Award and is currently in demand as a speaker, teacher, and workshop leader.
